eyeWitness seeks to bring to justice individuals who commit atrocities by providing human rights defenders, journalists, and ordinary citizens with a mobile app to capture much needed verifiable video and photos of these abuses. eyeWitness then becomes an ongoing advocate for the footage to promote accountability for those who commit the worst international crimes.

We recognise the information you collect is highly sensitive and protecting its security is a top priority, as it’s the only way we can ensure its admissibility in court. That is why we have implemented a number of features into the design of the app to ensure the security of your information.

How is information kept safe once it is uploaded it onto the eyeWitness server?
When you upload your footage, it is sent in small packets to avoid detection by those monitoring internet transmissions. Once the information is received by eyeWitness, it is kept in servers hosted and protected by leading legal technology provider, Lexis Nexis Legal and Professional. A copy is also stored offline for future justice, with all access logged and monitored.
